Council requires, from time to time, the assistance of external legal service providers to carry out its statutory functions and to meet its legal obligations effectively and efficiently. In particular, legal services relating to: Advice in relation to local government, planning, environmental, property, employment, leases/licences, and other matters. Representation in courts and tribunals such as the Land and Environment Court. Expressions of interest should address the Evaluation Criteria. The purpose of calling for expressions of interest is to: Establish the level of interest in providing such legal services to Council; Understand how interested parties can assist in the provision of legal services; Consider the legal expertise, advice and support services that are available to the Council for its use; Enhance the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the management of Council�s legal matters and representation; Receive comparable information from interested parties in order to fairly assess suitability of each expression of interest; and Potentially select a panel of appropriately qualified and experienced legal professionals to undertake legal advisory work, casework and representation.
